Rajasthan SI Exam Conducted After Five Years
The long wait for thousands of aspirants in Rajasthan finally concluded as the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam is being re-conducted today. The original recruitment process, held back in 2021, was canceled following widespread allegations of paper leaks and systemic irregularities.
To ensure absolute fairness and prevent any malpractices, the state administration and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) have made meticulous security arrangements across 666 exam centers spread over 11 districts.
Over Two Lakh Candidates in the Fray
A total of 2,18,131 candidates have registered for this high-stakes examination. The capital city of Jaipur alone accounts for the highest number of centers with 187 locations designated for the test.
The examination is being conducted in two shifts—the morning shift from 10 AM to 12 PM and the afternoon shift from 3 PM to 5 PM. Gates of the examination venues were closed strictly an hour before the commencement of tests.
Stringent Security and Three-Tier Checking
Learning harsh lessons from past paper leak incidents, authorities implemented a rigorous three-tier security check. Candidates were subjected to thorough frisking, with restrictions even extending to full-sleeve shirts, shoes, and certain accessories.
Additionally, prohibitory orders were enforced within a 300-meter radius of exam centers, keeping photocopy shops, cybercafes, and e-mitra centers shut during testing hours.
Introduction of the Fifth Circle in OMR Sheets
In a major administrative reform to bolster transparency, the OMR sheets feature a fifth mandatory circle for unanswered questions. This ensures that unattempted questions cannot be manipulated later by unscrupulous elements.
Background of the Cancellation
The 2021 recruitment exam was initially held for 859 posts, and successful candidates had even completed their training and taken up positions. However, after substantial evidence of paper leaks emerged, the Rajasthan High Court scrapped the entire process last August, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court.
